Geoffrey Mitchell

Geoffrey Mitchell is a Vice-Director of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development, a Coordinator Investigator at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Emeritus Professor at the University of Reading UK. He is/was supervisor/co-supervisor of fifty PhD and forty MSc Students.

Geoffrey Mitchell received a first degree in Metallurgy from the City of London Polytechnic, an MSc in Physical Research Techniques and a PhD degree in Polymer Physics from the CNNA/University of Cambridge.

Paula Faria

CDRSP-Pleiria, PT

Paula Faria is a Lecturer of the Mathematics Department at the School for Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and a Research Member of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. Master of Science in Pure Mathematics (Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics) and with a PhD in Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering by the University of Lisbon (Thesis: Numerical Modelling in Transcranial Neuronal Polarization: Clinical Application to Epilepsy) . She is the Head of the R&D Computational and Mathematical Methods Research Team at the CDRSP.

Joana Coutinho

CDRSP-Pleiria, PT

Joana Coutinho is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where she works in surface chemistry, while she tries to engage young researchers.

She received a first degree in Chemistry from Instituto Super Técnico (IST, University of Lisbon – UL), and a MSc in Physical Chemistry from IST-UL and Pierre and Marie Curie University Paris 6 with worked developed at Institut des NanoSciences de Paris. She obtained her PhD degree from IST-UL and University of Valencia, with studies involving Solid State Chemistry and Materials Science to study f-elements with fascinating magnetic properties.
